Eddie Murphy Ditches Oscars and All We Can Do is Cry

This is some bad news on a regular, sunny Wednesday in November. Eddie Murphy announced that he will NOT be hosting the 2012 Oscars as previously announced.

SAY WHAT?

That sucks. I thought finally the Oscars would be worth watching again. And I gave the Academy props for brining Murphy in after they f***ed up so royally last year with The Princess Diaries and Hottie Stuck in a Rock.

The man is a genius and everything he does inspires me to the core! 

His new film The Skin I Live In with Antonio Banderas is truly amazing.

Yes, it's weird! Yes, it's f***ing crazy! But it is that freedom of the imagination that fascinates and exhilarates me. To come up with a story like this, you have to be so free and so in touch with your imagination and so crazy...remember there are no limits to thoughts! 

Almodovar is a master of this.

Also, Antonio Banderas is so underrated. He is such a great actor. Unfortunately, he doesn't get to show it very often in the roles that he gets cast in.

One of the most important things for anything, not just acting, is doing your research. You have to know what's out there. I am working on a sketch-comedy show and have been going to see any and all possible comedy shows in New York. This weekend I saw Political Subversities at The Pit, Iron Sketch at the Pit, and a bunch of Stand-Up Comedy at the Laugh Lounge.

Political Subversities is a really cool group. They got together while they were studying at the NYU Tisch Experimental Theater Wing. And they got me thinking. They do musical sketch-comedy focused on politics. As I was sitting there laughing at the jokes, which are mostly tragic in their core, I started thinking...
